Viewing the Work Area

Using Zoom

Use the Zoom buttons to enlarge or reduce the image display.

To zoom in, click the Zoom In tool.

To zoom out, click the Zoom Out tool.

To adjust the zoom percentage, click the down arrow in the Adjust Zoom Percentage field and select the desired zoom percentage.

To fit the map in the browser window, click the Fit In Window tool. This adjusts the zoom and grid position to display at least a part of all of the boxes in the map.

Moving the Work Area

To move (drag) the display area, click the Drag tool, point to an area on the map, click and hold the left mouse button, drag the map in the desired direction, and release the mouse button. Repeat as desired.

Moving Contact Boxes

To move one contact box:

  • Point at the contact box, click and hold the left mouse button, drag the box to the desired location, and release the mouse button.

To simultaneously move more than one contact box:

  1. Click the Selection tool.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Press the Ctrl key and click each desired contact box

    • Draw a selection rectangle around the desired boxes

  1. Click and hold on one of the selected boxes, drag the group to the desired location, and release the mouse button.

Using Snap-to-Grid

You can choose to align objects on or "snap to" the nearest intersection of lines in the grid. This feature aligns the top-left corner of the contact box with the nearest intersection point on the grid. If a contact box has more than one role border, the innermost role border is used for the alignment.

To use Snap-to-Grid:  

1.  Click the Snap-to-Grid tool. A grid appears in the display.

2.  Point at a contact box, click and hold the left mouse button, drag the box to the desired location, and release the mouse button.

Locking Contact Groups

You can lock groups of contact boxes together in order to move the group as a whole around the display area. The lock is in place until you unlock the group or exit Relationship Maps.

To lock a contact group:

  1. Adjust the zoom percentage so that all desired contact boxes completely appear in the view.

  2. Click the Select tool.

  3. Draw a rectangle around the desired boxes.

  4. Click the Lock tool. The Lock icon appears highlighted.

5.  Click and hold the mouse button anywhere on the group, drag the group to any desired location, and release the mouse button.

Unlocking a Contact Group

A contact group remains locked together until you unlock the group or exit Relationship Maps.

To unlock a contact group:

  1. Adjust the zoom percentage so that all desired contact boxes completely appear in the view.

  2. Click the Select tool.

  3. Draw a rectangle around the boxes in the locked group.

  4. Click the Lock tool. The Lock icon appears grayed-out. You can now move the contact boxes individually.
